HOW IT WORKS

Factor 4 Skin Needling

Factor 4 combines Skin Needling or focused area injecting with your own plasma. To prepare for your treatment, your initial appointment (harvesting) will be booked first thing in the morning. We will then follow our Factor 4 process to prepare your serum for your treatment.

You can come in the next day or thereafter and complete your first treatment. The treatment time you can expect is 30-60 minutes, this will be advised by your therapist. We recommend coming in for your following treatments 7-10 days after. A package of 4 treatments is recommended for best results however a minimum of 2 treatments MUST be completed.

Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Advise your therapist if you have an active cold sore or are prone to cold sores.
- Advise your therapist of recent antibiotic use.
- Advise your therapist of any acne medication use within the last 12 months.
- If you have an upcoming event, do not schedule your treatment within 2 weeks of your event.
- Avoid cosmetic injectable treatments and sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
- Avoid prescription retinoids/Vitamin A for 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications 1 week prior to your treatment, please consult with your doctor if you take these on a regular basis.
- Avoid invasive laser treatments or laser hair removal 1 week prior to treatment.
- You must have no active herpes simplex. Prepare 72 hours prior to the treatment with antiviral medication if needed.
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment. If required, shave the treatment area 24 hours prior.
- You will need to harvest the blood prior to your needling booking, this will be booked by your therapist or nurse after consultation.
- For Factor 4 blood harvesting: drink at least 2 litres of water the day before and 1 litre the day of treatment.
What to expect post-treatment
- Skin will feel quite sensitive to touch, with redness or pin-point markings present immediately after treatment for up to 12 hours.
- Slight swelling immediately after treatment, this can last a few hours.
- Avoid touching the treated area for 6 hours post treatment.
- Skin may experience flaking or shedding for up to 1 week post treatment, do not pick or scratch.
- Breakouts may occur if you have underlying congestion within the skin.
Post-Treatment Instructions
- Please do not apply make-up for the day and night of your treatment, if you need coverage we can apply medical grade makeup to your skin post treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications immediately after treatment.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, hot showers and saunas for 48-72 hours post treatment.
- SPF 30+ must be applied for the days following your treatment.
- Continue use of active ingredients 5-7 days post treatment.
- Avoid facial waxing or hair removal treatments for 1 week post treatment.

Can I have this treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Your safety is our main concern and for this reason, we advise against medical aesthetic treatments whilst pregnant, simply out of precaution and due to the lack of information available on effects on the fetus. However, there are no conclusive studies on these treatments being safe or unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you have any concerns about a treatment, please consult your doctor before proceeding.
How long does this treatment take?

Factor 4 is a two step process completed across two appointments, your harvesting appointment can take up to 30 minutes and your skin needling appointment can take up to 60 minutes.
How long before I see results?

The goal of Factor 4 is to prevent ageing which is not a result we can always see physically on the skin, this is more of a preventative treatment to slow down the ageing process and results will gradually come over time. For best results, we recommend an initial series of 4 treatments, with ongoing maintenance treatments every 6-8 months.
